When I heard my preschooler would be wearing a cap/gown and graduating from kindy I scoffed.
As far as I was concerned it was overkill and a bit ridiculous to make such a big deal about it.
The funny thing is that I have graduated twice but have never actually been in the country to attend one of my graduation ceremonies.
I’ve never donned a cap and gown and trotted down a stage and been recognised for my years of hard work. Instead I was living in New York making stacks of cash that I never saved!
Sure when I returned home I made mum and dad happy by mocking up a shot of me holding my scroll wearing a cap and gown but of course it meant nothing.
But to see my middle son up on stage celebrating the end of his preschool years in a graduation gown and cap was quite touching. There might have even been tears!
So I take it all back and I will gladly eat a HUGE piece of humble pie with lashings of whipped cream.
I say wear a cap and gown any chance you can get – life is too short not to!
He sure has come along way since this photo was taking nearly 4 years ago. I can’t believe he’s going to school next year – GULP!
Do your kids have graduation ceremonies from preschool?
Did you attend your graduation ceremony, did I miss much?
